Nice to meet you! I’m Rika from Tokyo 🇯🇵

Hello everyone! My name is Rika, and I’m a barber from Tokyo, Japan.

I’m very excited to start a new chapter here in Sydney and to share the skills and hospitality I’ve developed in Japan with customers in Australia.

Here’s a little bit about me!

I’m from Tsukishima, Tokyo

I was born and raised in Tsukishima, a neighbourhood in central Tokyo.

Tsukishima is famous for monjayaki, a popular local Tokyo dish. It’s also known for its unique mix of old-fashioned Tokyo neighbourhoods, small local shops and modern high-rise buildings.

I have always loved the warm, friendly atmosphere of my hometown.

I’m also a mum to a four-year-old daughter. ❤️

My MBTI personality type is INTJ, so I’m probably a little bit of a planner and I love researching and learning about things!

A few things I love ❤️

One of my favourite things to do is go to Disneyland with my daughter! 🏰✨

We used to visit Tokyo Disneyland together, so I’m a little sad that there is no Disneyland in Australia! 🥲

But I’m looking forward to discovering lots of new places and making new memories with my daughter here in Sydney.

I also love travelling.

I have been a huge BIGBANG fan for more than 15 years! 😂❤️

I love Korea and Korean culture so much that I even learned a little Korean.

And of course, I LOVE Korean food!

One of my favourite dishes is 7-minute Pork Kimchi (7분 돼지김치) from Saemaeul Sikdang. 🇰🇷❤️

My career as a barber ✂️

I started my beauty career when I was 18.

I studied at a beauty school in Tokyo, where I learned a wide range of skills including haircutting, beauty treatments and makeup.

At 20, I joined HIRO GINZA, a Japanese barber company, and began my career as an assistant.

I worked in the Ginza and Shimbashi areas of Tokyo, two of the city’s major business districts, where I gained experience as an assistant and junior stylist.

In 2016, I became a Top Stylist at PREMIUM BARBER Omotesando.

From 2018 to 2020, I was the Manager of PREMIUM BARBER Akasaka.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many different customers in Tokyo and build my experience as a barber.

From Tokyo to Sydney 🇯🇵 → 🇦🇺

After many years of working as a barber in Tokyo, I decided to bring my experience to Sydney.

My goal is to provide the technical skills and attention to detail that I learned in Japan, while also getting to know each customer and creating a style that suits their personality and lifestyle.

I’m especially looking forward to meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about life in Australia.

My English is still a work in progress, but I’m studying every day! 😂
